  18. The following error conditions cause a "Printer out of paper" message
  19. when your printer is connected to a serial port:
  20.  
  21.  - The printing device is out of paper.
  22.  - The printing device is offline.
  23.  - The printing device is switched off.
  24.  - The cable to the printing device is disconnected.
  25.  
  26. CAUSE
  27. =====

  29. When you print to a serial port, there is only one error condition
  30. available (time-out). In a serial connection, there are no status lines
  31. available to inform Windows NT as to which specific problem exists (as
  32. do parallel ports). Therefore, Windows NT defaults to "Printer out of
  33. paper" with serial printers.
